The Ghana Football Association (GFA) unveiled the inaugural FIFA U15 Girls Regional Colts Leagues on Friday, January 23, 2026, at its headquarters in Accra, signaling a bold step forward in nurturing young female talent across the nation.

This initiative, backed by FIFA’s Women’s Football Development Programme, promises to revolutionize grassroots women’s football by creating structured pathways for girls under 15.

The vibrant launch ceremony drew top figures from the women’s game, including FIFA Consultant Thuba Sibanda, GFA Executive Council members, Regional Football Association Chairmen, technical experts, players, and administrators.

GFA General Secretary Prosper Harrison Addo opened the event by calling for unified effort, emphasizing collective ownership to sustain the program’s success and foster emerging stars nationwide.

In his keynote, GFA President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku thanked FIFA for its unwavering support, framing the leagues as a triumph of shared vision and investment.

He reflected on his administration’s strategic push since 2019, shifting from promises to tangible actions like building sustainable structures for women’s football growth.

Simeon-Okraku spotlighted the leagues’ role in offering Ghana’s 10 regions a competitive platform for early talent spotting, skill-building, and higher participation rates.

For the first time, U15 girls gain a clear route from local pitches to elite levels, embedding values like discipline, teamwork, and excellence along the way.
