The Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) Volta/Oti Chapter is celebrating its 8th anniversary, marking effective growth and progress in promoting sports journalism in the region.

In a statement, the Association expressed gratitude to its members for their contributions to its success, despite the challenges faced by sports journalists.

The statement noted the importance of fair and development-oriented sports journalism and called on stakeholders to support the association’s mission to elevate the standards of sports journalism as a means to promote progress.

The Regional Association mentioned that it remains committed to training young sports writers, fostering the growth of local sports, and partnering with federations to advance sports in the region.

To commemorate the eighth anniversary, SWAG Volta will organize a breakfast meeting with the Regional Minister, Hon. James Gunu, on March 26, 2026, followed by a public lecture later that same day.

The event will focus on strategies to enhance sports development and journalism in the region.

SWAG Volta has been in existence since 2018 and it’s managed by Chairman, Eric Eli Adzie, Vice Chairman, Davis Attuquaye Clottey, and Secretary, Tilda Acorlor.
