A dermatologist and founder of Skin Foundation Africa, Dr Kofi Ansah Brifo, has cautioned against using the same cream or body lotion on both the face and body, particularly for people with oily skin.
Speaking on the psychological impact of acne on young adults on the GTV Breakfast Show on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, Dr Ansah said the practice could lead to acne and pimples on the face, which may affect self-confidence.
“Do not apply the cream or body lotion you use on your body to your face,” he advised.
He also stressed that body oils, especially perfumed ones, can block pores and contribute to acne, making it important to use separate products for the face and body.
Dr Ansah said the warning highlights the importance of proper skincare routines, especially among young adults who are more prone to acne.
Using products formulated for specific skin types, he noted, can help prevent breakouts and promote healthier skin.
