The Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Ahmed Ibrahim, has intervened in the chieftaincy dispute within the Sunyani Traditional Council, restoring calm and setting the stage for renewed unity and development.
The intervention addressed long-standing tensions involving the Paramount Queen Mother, Nana Akosua Dua Sika Brayie II, and the Paramount Chief, Odeefuor Ogyeamansan Boahen Korkor II, following a structured Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) process facilitated by the ministry.
Under an agreed three-month roadmap, a meeting was held to confirm the lifting of the suspension imposed on the Paramount Queen Mother.
Nana Akosua Dua Sika Brayie II was formally reinstated and fully recognised, alongside four divisional queen mothers.

The roadmap further affirms Odeefuor Ogyeamansan Boahen Korkor II as the sole Paramount Chief of Sunyani, pending the conclusion of investigations by the Judicial Committee to determine the rightful occupant of the stool.
The collaborative efforts of the sector minister and the Bono Regional Minister have been commended by residents and traditional leaders, who view the restored peace as critical to attracting investment and accelerating development in Sunyani.
