The Kandifo Institute has formally withdrawn its petition alleging the unlawful involvement of unlicensed and investigated persons in the operations of Goldbod Ghana.

In a letter dated January 8, 2025, and addressed to the Office of the Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, copies of which were sent to the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) and the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO), the Institute cited “recent information received” as the basis for its decision.

The petition, initially submitted by a group identifying itself as Concerned Citizens of Ghana, had raised concerns about the alleged involvement of Mr. Roger Frimpong Kwakye, also known as Goldstrom, and any transactions he may have had with Bawa-Rock Limited and Goldbod Ghana.

However, in the withdrawal letter signed by the group, the petitioners stated clearly that they were rescinding all allegations against Mr. Kwakye and any related dealings with the companies mentioned.

“Due to recent information received on the matters raised in our petition, we wish to withdraw the petition made against Mr. Roger Frimpong Kwakye or Goldstrom and any transaction he may have with Bawa-Rock Ltd and Goldbod,” the letter said.

The letter was issued from the Office of the Executive Director of the Kandifo Institute.

The development effectively brings to a close the specific allegations raised in the original petition, pending any further action by state investigative agencies.
