The Member of Parliament for Sangnarigu, Attah Issah has revealed that the rollout of the government’s 24-Hour Economy policy was delayed to prevent the initiative from being politicized and to allow for extensive stakeholder engagement.

Speaking on Citi News on Wednesday, February 11, the MP, the member of Parliament’s Trade, Industry Tourism and the Finance Committees, said government intentionally took its time to ensure the policy was properly shaped through different stakeholder meetings across the country

“Since we don’t want the over-politicization of economic policies, we needed to do a lot of consultations. The Secretariat did a good job, they consulted everybody they needed to consult. If you go to region by region for instance, Upper West will be getting the groundnut processing, that is the millet corridor. North East will be getting the Integrated Rice Corridor and many more.

“The 24-Hour Economy has come to stay. It is going to transform the economic framework of this country and I can bet you, people will smile by the end of 2026” he said

He also explained that the policy is expected to be implemented with regional-specific economic interventions based on local strengths and expressed his confidence in the policy.
