The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has released the provisional results of candidates who sat for the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for Private Candidates, Second Series.
A total of 41,767 candidates took part in the examination. Out of this number, 20,036 were males and 24,501 were females. The figure also includes 16 visually impaired and seven hearing-impaired candidates. However, 2,422 registered candidates were absent.
In a statement signed by the Head of Public Affairs, John Kapi, WAEC gave a breakdown of performance in the four core subjects.
According to the Council, 67.43 percent of candidates obtained grades A1 to C6 in English Language. In Mathematics, 49.84 percent passed. For Integrated Science, 35 percent obtained grades A1 to C6, while 81.21 percent passed Social Studies.
The statement also showed that in English Language, 11.25 percent had D7, 10.28 percent scored E8, and 11.04 percent obtained F9. In Mathematics, 11.05 percent had D7, 11.42 percent scored E8, and 27.69 percent had F9. For Integrated Science, 14.76 percent had D7, 18.24 percent scored E8, and 32 percent obtained F9. In Social Studies, 4.64 percent had D7, 3.72 percent scored E8, and 10.42 percent had F9.
WAEC has withheld the entire results of 348 candidates and subject results of 469 others over alleged examination malpractice. The offences include collusion, impersonation, bringing unauthorized materials into the examination hall, and seeking external assistance. The Council said investigations are ongoing, and the affected results will either be released or cancelled after the process is completed.
WAEC also warned the public to be careful of fraudsters who promise to upgrade results for a fee through mobile money. The Council stressed that its results database is secure and that institutions should verify results directly from WAEC or use the confirmation and verification service on its official website.

WAEC expressed appreciation to supervisors, invigilators, examiners, and other stakeholders for their support in the successful conduct of the examination and the release of the results.
