Professor Isaac Boadi, Dean of the Faculty of Accounting and Finance at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), has called for clearer economic policy communication from government.

Speaking on Current Agenda at Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC), Prof. Boadi said policy messaging should be supported with facts and figures to allow for critical examination.

He noted that while the themes outlined by the administration are laudable, they must be subjected to detailed analysis using national data to assess their real impact.

According to him, economic claims such as the country’s turnaround must be measured against fiscal indicators, national accounts and statistical data. He encouraged the public to consult official sources such as the Bank of Ghana and the Ghana Statistical Service for verification of economic trends.

Prof. Boadi said that although macroeconomic indicators show signs of stability, including improvements in currency performance and reserves, the lived experiences of citizens and industry players must also be considered.

He highlighted ongoing pressure in the manufacturing sector, referencing negative producer price inflation figures as an indication of strain within the industrial space.

On infrastructure, he stated that he had expected specific updates on Agenda 111 hospital projects, including the number completed and operational. He also anticipated further details on agriculture and food security initiatives.

Prof. Boadi emphasised that government performance assessments should be anchored in measurable outcomes and transparent reporting, especially after a full year in office.

He maintained that while progress has been recorded in some areas, sustained policy implementation will be critical to addressing remaining economic challenges.
