The Member of Parliament for Salaga South Constituency Hon Zuwera Mohammed Ibrahimah has unveiled a series of community-focused initiatives aimed at supporting vulnerable groups and improving sanitation across the municipality.
Speaking at an annual Iftar gathering hosted by the His Majesty Kpembewura, Hon Zuwera Mohammed Ibrahimah announced the establishment of a dedicated Trust Fund to support orphans. The fund is intended to provide sustainable assistance and promote a sense of inclusion among vulnerable children in the constituency.
The MP reaffirmed her commitment to social welfare, noting that women, children, orphans, and persons with disabilities remain a top priority. As part of immediate support efforts, clothing was donated to members of the community, particularly orphans, to help meet their basic needs.
In addition to the social intervention, the MP outlined plans to address sanitation challenges in Salaga. She revealed a partnership with the Municipal Chief Executive and Choice Ghana to implement a consistent and structured sanitation programme. The initiative aims to promote daily cleanliness rather than periodic clean-up exercises.
The MP stressed that maintaining a clean environment is essential to preserving the dignity and well-being of residents, adding that the sanitation drive will play a key role in transforming the municipality.

In a wide-ranging address, the Member of Parliament for Salaga South outlined a comprehensive strategy aimed at transforming both the social and environmental landscape of the constituency, and also detailed plans to institutionalize support for vulnerable groups while raising sanitation standards across the municipality.
A key highlight of the address was the formal launch of a Trust Fund for Orphans. Moving beyond seasonal donations, the MP stressed the importance of establishing a structured, year-round support system. “I have dedicated much of my public life to the vulnerable—women, children, orphans, and persons with disabilities,” the MP stated. “This Trust Fund will provide a platform to ensure our orphans feel fully integrated and supported by society.” As an immediate intervention, clothing was donated to members of the community, particularly orphans. The MP also pledged to work closely with the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) to secure regular financial contributions to sustain the fund over the long term.
Addressing sanitation concerns, the MP announced a strategic partnership with the MCE and Choice Ghana to “rebrand and rebuild” Salaga. The initiative seeks to move away from irregular clean-up exercises—often carried out during special occasions—towards a consistent daily sanitation routine. “Sanitation is a core priority of my efforts,” the MP noted. “The current level of litter does not reflect who we are. We are undertaking deliberate measures to ensure Salaga is cleaned on a daily basis.”
She further added that the success of these initiatives will require strong collaboration and a shared sense of responsibility among residents. The MP called on local media houses, including Kassanteng FM, Kan FM, and Magic FM, to support the campaign by intensifying public education and encouraging positive behavioural change.
In her conclusion, the MP reaffirmed her commitment to the development of Salaga South, stressing that sustained progress will depend on unity, accountability, and the active participation of all stakeholders in building a cleaner and more inclusive community.
