The Vice President, Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, has said the government is considering a performance-linked remuneration framework for specified state-owned enterprises, to be implemented by the Ministry of Finance.

She said the proposed measures are aimed at raising standards across the public sector.

“We must reach a point where public ownership reflects the highest standards of responsibility, accountability and best practices,” she stated.

According to her, the Public Enterprises League Table is a key government innovation in the public sector, as it highlights performance, recognises quality and encourages improvement.

The initiative aims to present the performance of institutions more clearly, thereby promoting greater public accountability and transparency.

She made these remarks at the Annual Stakeholder Conference and PELT Awards 2026 held on Thursday, March 19.

The Vice President noted that Ghana is not alone in pursuing such reforms, citing countries including South Africa, Kenya, Uganda and Morocco as examples of nations that have undertaken major efforts to strengthen the governance and performance of public enterprises.
