The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) is urging the public to contact the Service when a snake enters their room, stating that it is well equipped to handle such situations.
Public Relations Officer of the GNFS, DO II Desmond Ackah, said the Service should be the first point of contact in such incidents.
“The first point of contact when a snake enters your bedroom is the Ghana National Fire Service,” he said on the GTV Breakfast Show on Thursday, April 2.
DO II Ackah also noted that snakes are living creatures that should not be killed, stressing that they do not attack unless provoked.
He therefore advised the public to leave such situations to professionals trained to safely retrieve them.
The GNFS has been working to improve its response to emergencies, including snake invasions and rescue operations.
It has also encouraged the public to use its emergency contact lines — 112 (national emergency line) and 192 (fire service direct) — for prompt assistance.
