Pentecost University has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Ghana Prisons Service in Accra.

The agreement will enhance rehabilitation and capacity-building programmes for inmates as well as create long-term impact through structured training and reformation initiatives.

The Dean of Theology at the Pentecost University, Apostle Prof. Emmanuel Anim emphasised the need for intentional reform within correctional facilities. According to him, prison life is a social experience that requires deliberate attention and innovative interventions, describing the agreement as a blueprint for sustained collaboration between academia and state institutions.

The Director-General of Prisons, Patience Baffoe-Bonnie, highlighted capacity building as a major challenge confronting the Service. She added that the partnership with the Pentecost University would facilitate the development of tailored training programmes for inmates, focusing on practical skills acquisition and improved production practices.

She further indicated that efforts would be made to expand ongoing rehabilitation initiatives by introducing certified training programmes, enabling inmates to acquire recognised qualifications to support their reintegration into society after serving their sentences.

As part of the agreement, a joint steering committee will be established to oversee the implementation and sustainability of the initiative.
