The Inspector-General of Police, Christian Tetteh Yohunu, has urged senior police officers to continue upholding peace and stability across the country. He emphasized that a secure environment is essential for national development, noting that improved security attracts investors and allows citizens to carry out their daily activities without fear of attack.

This call was made during a decoration ceremony held in Accra, where senior officers of the Ghana Police Service were promoted to higher ranks.

The promotions covered officers advancing from Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACOP) to Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP), as well as those elevated from DCOP to Commissioner of Police (COP). In total, eight senior officers were promoted from DCOP to COP, while eleven officers moved from ACOP to DCOP.

The Inspector-General of Police, Christian Tetteh Yohunu, said there is a need to position Ghana as a safe and secure nation comparable to other countries around the world. He noted that the promotions come with greater responsibility, expressing confidence that the newly promoted officers will redouble their efforts and work more effectively.

“When security is assured, investors are encouraged to come into the country,” he stated, adding that the new ranks should inspire the officers to serve with renewed commitment. He encouraged them to make Ghanaians proud by improving upon current standards of policing.

He called for continued unity and dedication in the fight against crime, noting that the entire nation takes pride in the Ghana Police Service.

The senior officers expressed their gratitude to the government, the Inspector-General of Police, Christian Tetteh Yohunu, and the Police Management Board (POMAB) for the promotions. They pledged to work harder and remain dedicated to their duties in order to bring greater pride to the Ghana Police Service.
