The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has opened nominations for its branch elections across the country. A statement issued by the party’s National Secretariat and signed by the Deputy General Secretary in charge of Administration, Barbara Serwaa Asamoah, on behalf of the General Secretary.said the nomination period will run from May 2 to May 16, 2026.
The NDC indicated that the exercise will be conducted in all 40,647 branches within its 276 constituencies nationwide, describing the elections as a key part of its internal democratic processes and grassroots reorganisation.
Nomination forms, according to the statement, will be available online from May 2 and can be accessed individually or in bulk. Each form is priced at GH₵20.00, with payments to be made through a short code or via online platforms.
The party further announced that the branch elections will take place from May 20 to June 30, 2026, and urged members to treat the process with seriousness as it seeks to strengthen its structures at the grassroots.
The statement also outlined that certain categories of persons intending to contest in constituency, regional and national elections must resign from their current positions within specified timelines in accordance with party guidelines.
These include Ministers and Deputy Ministers of State, Chief Executive Officers and Managing Directors and their deputies, as well as Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives.
Affected persons are required to resign on or before April 30, May 14 and June 7, 2026, respectively.
The NDC urged members to actively participate in the exercise and uphold the values of unity, fairness and discipline throughout the process.
