Consolidated Bank Ghana has officially launched its Agency Banking service as part of efforts to expand financial access and deepen financial inclusion across Ghana.

The launch event brought together representatives from the Bank of Ghana, technology partners, agents, customers, and stakeholders within the financial sector to unveil the new service, which allows customers to access essential banking services through approved agents within their communities without necessarily visiting a banking hall.

Speaking at the launch, Managing Director of CBG, Dr. Naomi Wolali Kwetey described the initiative as “a major step” in the Bank’s commitment to making banking more accessible and inclusive for every Ghanaian.

“As an indigenous Ghanaian Bank, we aim to provide simple, secure, and differentiated banking experiences,” she said. “This is not just a launch; it’s a step towards empowering communities and supporting local businesses.”

According to her, the Agency Banking platform currently offers services including cash deposits, withdrawals, interbank transfers, bill payments, and account opening services.

Dr. Kwetey revealed that the Bank has already onboarded 168 agents across all regions of Ghana and intends to increase the number to 1,000 by the end of the year, with a long-term target of 8,000 agents nationwide by 2028.

She emphasized that the initiative would improve accessibility to banking services, reduce congestion at banking halls, and extend financial services to underserved communities while supporting Ghana’s broader financial inclusion agenda.
CBG also assured customers that the Agency Banking platform operates on a secure system aligned with PCI Security Standards requirements. In addition, agents under the scheme are covered through the Bank’s Bancassurance arrangement.

Delivering the purpose of the gathering, the Deputy Managing Director of CBG said the introduction of Agency Banking reflects the Bank’s mission of becoming the preferred Ghanaian bank through simple, secure, and differentiated banking experiences.

“Today’s launch is not just about introducing a service; it is about creating greater opportunities, empowering communities, and ensuring that banking services are available to more Ghanaians wherever they may be,” the DMD stated.

Technology partners behind the project also commended the collaboration with CBG.

Founder of First Vision Technologies, Dr. Dickman Adarkwah, praised the Bank for supporting local businesses and technology-driven innovation.
“When other banks said ‘come back when you’re bigger,’ CBG said ‘come show us what you can do,’” he noted during the launch.

He added that the partnership had enabled his company to deliver mobile banking, internet banking, agency banking, fraud management, cybersecurity, and T24 services to customers in Ghana and beyond.

Representatives from Modefin, including Project Manager Kavata, also expressed excitement about the successful rollout of the Agency Banking platform and its expected impact on communities nationwide.

The launch marks another milestone in CBG’s drive to bring convenient, secure, and reliable banking services closer to Ghanaians across the country.
