Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz has named a 28‑man preliminary squad for Ghana’s World Cup preparations and the upcoming friendly against Wales in Cardiff. The group, comprising five goalkeepers, nine defenders, seven midfielders, and seven forwards, began training on Monday, May 25, 2026, at Dragon Park in Wales.
Defender Baba Abdul Rahman has been recalled after a strong season with PAOK FC in Greece, where he made 35 appearances, scoring three goals and adding three assists.
Ernest Nuamah of Olympique Lyonnais returns to the setup after nearly a year sidelined by an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury, with the move seen as a key step in his comeback path.
Other comebacks include Abdul Mumin (Rayo Vallecano), Augustine Boakye (AS Saint‑Étienne) and Alidu Seidu (Stade Rennais FC), while Ajax youngster Paul Reverson has been included for assessment as part of the team’s long‑term future‑planning.
Ghana will face Wales on Tuesday, June 2, in Cardiff, in what will be one of the final tune‑up matches before the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The Black Stars are in Group L and will play Panama in Toronto, England in Boston, and Croatia in Philadelphia, with the Wales friendly expected to be crucial for final‑tweaking of the 26‑man squad that will travel to North America.
