The Member of Parliament for Salaga South Constituency, Hon. Zuwera Mohammed Ibrahimah, has underscored the significant impact of economic stability on women and household budgeting, describing women as the primary managers of family finances.

Speaking on the floor of Parliament, the Hon Zuwera Mohammed Ibrahimah shared an anecdotal story to illustrate how women and children often bear the responsibility of managing day-to-day household expenses, including the purchase of school uniforms, shoes, food items, and other essential necessities. She humorously described this role as the “true duty of women,” contrasting it with men’s focus on broader national and international issues.

Hon. Zuwera noted that women are among the first to appreciate policies that stabilize the economy because they directly experience the effects of rising and falling prices. She commended the government’s fiscal and financial management measures, stating that they have contributed to a significant decline in inflation.
According to her, inflation has dropped to 3.4 percent, compared to 22.85 percent in 2024 and 38.11 percent in 2023. She described the previous inflation levels as crippling for families, making it extremely difficult for women to effectively plan household budgets.

The MP explained that with prices becoming more stable and predictable, families can now better manage their finances. Using the example of milk prices remaining constant, she noted that households no longer have to worry about sudden price hikes or whether their monthly income will be sufficient to meet essential needs.

She concluded that economic stability provides families, particularly women, with the confidence and certainty needed to plan for the future and effectively manage household resources.
