The Inspector General of Police (IGP), David Asante Apeatu has asked unauthorised persons who illegally use sirens and horns to desist from the practice or face the law.

He stated that any person found culpable could face a jail term of 30 days.

He issued this warning during a press briefing in Accra.

“Private security organisations are not allowed to use Horns/sirens and lights unless in emergencies which have been officially relayed to Police,” he said.

“Ministers or government officials who are not entitled to use horns or sirens when in genuine emergency cases, are assisted by a Police Dispatch Rider to navigate traffic,” he added.
