The ban on fishing which started on the 15th of last month will be lifted today with a ceremony at Prampram.

According to a Fisheries Analyst with the UN Sustainable Fisheries Management Project, Kofi Agbogah, the ban was largely complied with.

He noted that there will be no significant change in the fish stock.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture Development  and the Fisheries Commission wish to thank all artisanal and inshore fishers for their cooperation and observation of the closed fishing season, which started on the 15th May,  and ends tomorrow.

The Ministry and the Commission would like to remind and caution all fishermen against illegal fishing practices including the use of light, under size nets, chemicals and explosives.

They entreat all fish processors to employ the use of safe fish processing methods to protect the regenerated fish stocks.
