No Channel has been sold- GBC Management clears the air

The management of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) has responded to publications in some media outlets concerning the alleged sale of some of GBC’s TV Channels.

The Acting Director General of the Corporation, Augustus Yamson, described the allegations as false and called on the public to ignore such reports.

He said as part of GBC’s strategy going into the future, it has begun the process of creating avenues for Commercial Broadcasting to increase its revenue base to enable it to compete favourably in the Media space.

In a related development, government has said that it is not aware of the alleged sale of Channels of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) to private entities.

The Deputy Minister for Information, Pius Hadzide in an interview with CNR, said government is not privy to the said development.

According to him,  government has not given approval for any such transaction.
