The National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO)  has confirmed the death of a 13-year old boy who got drowned in Tampluni in the West Mamprusi district.

The Director in Charge of Security, Major Ameni, who confirmed this to GBC’s Radio Ghana said, the deceased got drowned in a trench formed as a result of sand winning in the area.

He said the sad incidence has left residents along the White Volta devastated.  He said NADMO has intensified its community outreach to caution communities to stay safe.

Major Ameni said NADMO has advised residents living in low lying areas to move to safer grounds because of the fast rising water from the dam coupled with heavy rains recorded daily.

Major Ameni said a team of technical men have been dispatched to flood prone communities to provide support and assist in rescue efforts.
