The Police say they will not rest on their oars in bringing crime to the barest minimum.

Speaking on GBC’s current affairs programme, ‘Behind the News,’ following Thursday’s multiple swoops across three regions, the Director of Public Affairs of the Police Service, ACP David Eklu said the Police collaborate a lot with other security agencies to ensure utmost success in its operations.

He said the suspects nabbed will be accorded their rights and those found to be criminals will be processed for court.

ACP Eklu said preventing crime involves community participation.

Meanwhile, a dawn operation jointly carried out by the military and police in Budumburam in the Central region Thursday led to the arrest of 141 suspected criminals.

All the suspects, including 15 females, are at the Police Headquarters in Accra, for screening. The team comprising about 400 military officers and 200 police personnel swooped on the Central Regional town, which has gained notoriety for violent crimes in recent times.

A statement issued by the Public Affairs Directorate of the Police Service says the exercise, which is “part of efforts to ensure total security in the country,” shall be replicated nationwide.
