Government during this year’s Cocoa Day in Sunyani announced an 8.42% increment in the Producer Price of Cocoa. This means a bag of cocoa will now be bought for GHC515.00.
However, Member of Parliament (MP) for Juaboso, Kwabena Mintah Akando, has described the new Producer Price as “woefully inadequate”.
He said government should have factored the hardship of Ghanaians which include farmers in the fixing of the new producer price.
Making reference to the price on the market, Mr. Akandoh said government could have pegged the producer price at GHC800.00 per bag.
