Gay Zimbabwe teacher resigns after death threats

A Gay Teacher at a Top Private School in Zimbabwe has been forced to resign after receiving death threats and threats of legal action from parents.

Neal Hovelmeier, who is also a Deputy Headmaster,who came out publicly over his sexuality at an Assembly at Saint John’s College in Harare sparked outrage from some parents in a country described as socially conservative.

In his resignation letter, Mr  Hovelmeier said since making the announcement, some parents have strongly objected to the way the school went public over the issue, but officials there explained, they had no choice.
