The Daily Graphic applauds the Minister of state in charge of Tertiary Education, Professor Kwesi Yankah on his attempt to restore peace and harmony at the University of Education, Winneba. Students at the university are protesting the dismissal of some lecturers by the governing council of the university. The paper describes the development at the University as unfortunate and calls for it to be resolved amicably. The paper urges students to be mindful of the nature of their protest in order not to worsen the situation.

The Ghanaian Times commends government for responding to calls by the public to come out with a response plan for earthquakes. This follows the recent earth tremor that hit parts of Accra. According to the paper, the inauguration of a committee to ready the country in the event of a major earthquake is timely and necessary. The paper calls on government to resource NADMO and the Ghana Geological Service for them to effectively carry out their mandate.
