The Daily Graphic applauds Ghana’s successful completion of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Extended Credit Facility. The paper feels the country should not depend on the Bretton Woods, IMF and the World Bank to develop. It says Ghana is blessed with vast arable lands, good weather, minerals, oil as well as abundant food and cash crops that the country can exploit for the benefit of all. The Paper urges the country to be prudent in managing the resources and add value to the produce before export as well develop the manufacturing industry and human resources to avoid depending on finished goods.

The Ghanaian Times commends government for proposing the setting up of a bi-partisan committee to address the depreciation of the cedi. The paper says although the government has taken a lot of measures to  stabilize the cedi, it believes these are not permanent solutions to the seasonal problem. It is on this basis that the paper believes the formation of the bi-partisan committee to investigate the structural causes of the depreciation is necessary and timely. The economic woes of the country cannot be the problem of the government alone. Therefore all hands must be on deck to find a lasting solution to the problem.
