Mr Trump said he was “very disappointed” the Swedish PM had been “unable to act” on the case of US rapper A$AP Rocky.

Donald Trump has told Sweden to “give A$AP Rocky his freedom” after the US rapper was charged there with assault.

In a series of tweets, Mr Trump said he had watched the video of the alleged assault in Stockholm.

The US president tweeted he was “very disappointed” Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Lofven had been “unable to act” and urged him to “treat Americans fairly”.

Give A$AP Rocky his FREEDOM. We do so much for Sweden but it doesn’t seem to work the other way around. Sweden should focus on its real crime problem! #FreeRocky

Very disappointed in Prime Minister Stefan Löfven for being unable to act. Sweden has let our African American Community down in the United States. I watched the tapes of A$AP Rocky, and he was being followed and harassed by troublemakers. Treat Americans fairly! #FreeRocky

Last week, Mr Trump said he had spoken to Mr Lofven about A$AP’s case.

The US president, who is running for re-election in 2020, told Mr Lofven he had “let our African American Community down in the United States”.
