Shatta Wale commends EOCO after release from custody

Ghanaian dancehall superstar, Shatta Wale, has commended the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) after being released from custody following investigations surrounding the importation of his yellow Lamborghini.

Taking to his social media shortly after his release, Shatta Wale expressed gratitude to EOCO for what he described as a “respectful and lawful” process. He commended the office for upholding professionalism

“To all the staff of EOCO you guys have been wonderful at least when I came there you guys really took me through that rightful processes that was needed”, he said.

Initially granted bail at GHC10 million with two sureties, the artist’s bail conditions were later reviewed and reduced to GHC5 million with two sureties, leading to his release on Friday, August 21. 

The case attracted widespread public attention, with hundreds of fans gathering outside EOCO’s premises earlier in the day to demand his release.

The investigation focused on Shatta Wale’s luxury vehicle, with EOCO reportedly probing irregularities surrounding the importation of the Lamborghini.

Shatta Wale has confirmed his release and return home.

“Shatta is safe, your king is safe, 1 Don is safe, and I’m home now,” he stated.

He expressed gratitude to his management team and fans for their unwavering support and loyalty throughout the situation.

EOCO has yet to issue an official statement on the next steps in the investigation.
