Dancehall star, Shatta Wale, has been granted a bail of GH₵10 million with two sureties after being held by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) in connection with a yellow Lamborghini Urus.

The artiste, known privately as Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jr., reported himself to EOCO on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, with his lawyer Cephas Biyuo, to support investigations. His manager, Samuel Atuobi Baah (Sammy Flex), confirmed the bail, adding that their legal team is working to complete the requirements by Thursday, August 21, 2025.

EOCO is investigating matters linked to tax responsibilities on the luxury car and the operations of Shatta Wale’s company.

The case dates back to an earlier operation in June, when EOCO seized a 2019 Lamborghini Urus from Shatta Wale’s residence at Trassaco Valley. A statement signed by EOCO’s Acting Executive Director, Raymond Archer, said the seizure followed a 2023 request from the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) and the Department of Justice (DOJ).

The U.S. authorities had linked the car to Nana Kwabena Amuah, who is serving an 86-month jail sentence in the United States for financial crimes. EOCO revealed that Shatta Wale had asked officials not to publicize the seizure because of concerns about how it could affect his image.

The FBI and DOJ are expected to formally ask for the car’s return to the U.S. as part of a $4.7 million restitution order against Amuah. EOCO also noted that Shatta Wale, together with a former senior officer of the National Signal Bureau, remain persons of interest and may face further questioning as the probe continues.
