The Paramount Chief of the Aflao Traditional Area, Torgbui Amenya Fiti V, has commended government for the recent appreciation of the Ghana cedi against the US dollar, describing it as a welcome development for communities along the country’s borders.
Torgbui Fiti made the remarks at his palace when the Volta Regional Minister, James Gunu, paid a courtesy call on him as part of his working visit to the Ketu South Municipality.
“We are so happy that our currency, the Ghana cedi, is appreciating against the dollar,” Torgbui Fiti stated. “You know, this is a border community—we depend on the cedi and the CFA franc. These few days, we are so happy that the cedi appreciated against the dollar very well.”
He encouraged the government’s economic management team to sustain the gains.
“We want to convey that message to the economic task force of the government—that well done, they should continue,” he said.
The Volta Regional Minister’s visit forms part of his engagement tour with traditional leaders, aimed at fostering cooperation between government and local authorities to enhance development efforts in the region.
