Ban on small-scale mining to be lifted on Monday

The ban on Small- Scale Mining will be lifted on Monday.
This comes almost two years after government placed an indefinate ban on the activities of illegal mining in the country.
Minister for Environment, Science and Technology, and Chairman of the Inter Ministerial Committee on Illegal Mining, Prof. Kwabena Frimpong Boateng who announced this said the extent of the activities of illegal mining was underestimated until the Committee hit the ground to ascertain the damage.
He said ten percent of the country’s land surface has been degraded and the country needs twenty nine billion dollars to recover it.
