One person is confirmed dead in Wednesday’s afternoon shooting incident in the Bawku Municipality.

Five other persons are said to be receiving medical attention at an undisclosed health facility in the Upper East Region.

The District Chief Executive, Amadu Hamza, who confirmed the incident to GBC News said the unfortunate incident happened around the Bawku Police station, but the police are yet to make any arrests.

“Unknown assailants came closer to the police station, shot sporadically, and killed one person. Five were also injured,” Mr. Amadu confirmed.

Residents later in the night could not close their eyes because of some sporadic gunshots that occupied the rest of their sleep in the municipality.

Residents who live around the Gingande area in Bawku Township are expressing fear and insecurity since the police station area has recorded five to six shooting incidents within the last three months without any arrest.
