Management of Bolgatanga Technical Institute has ordered all third-year male students to immediately vacate the campus following security concerns.
The directive was issued by the Upper East Regional Minister and Chairman of REGSEC, Akamugri Donatus Atanga, after intelligence reports indicated a planned attack on key school infrastructure.

Addressing students and staff on Wednesday, the Regional Minister expressed serious concern over recurring unrest and property destruction at the institute. He explained that the decision was a preventive measure aimed at safeguarding lives and protecting public property.

According to him, authorities received credible reports that some students were preparing to incite chaos, which could escalate into violent clashes that could lead to unintended casualties.
While acknowledging that the directive could disrupt academic work, he stressed that the intervention had become necessary under the circumstances. He warned that ignoring security directives could jeopardise the students’ chances of sitting their upcoming examinations.
