The Minister for Sanitation and Water Resources, Cecilia Dapaah has asked the Chinese government to help preserve and restore water bodies which have been polluted by activities of galamseyers.

Madam Dapaah made the call when the new Chinese Ambassador to Ghana paid a courtesy call on her.

She said apart from illegal mining, other major causes of water pollution are industrial waste, household disposals and farming.

She called for concerted efforts to sustain the campaign against galamsey to improve the quality of water bodies in the country especially in the rural areas.
