Ghana COCOBOD is proposing a policy framework or legislation to prohibit mining on cocoa farms as a measure to check illegal mining and to mitigate the annual reduction in cocoa production.

Galamsey activities have dug deep into most cocoa farms in the past few years, taking a heavy toll on the fortunes of the sector.

Deputy Chief Executive, Mr. Agyemang Dwomoh, made the proposal at the just ended National Consultative Dialogue on Small Scale Mining in Accra.
