The Concerned Nurses and Midwifery Association of Ghana has issued a strong statement condemning recent comments made by the General Secretary of the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA), Dr David Tenkorang-Twum, against the Minister of Health.

In a press release, the association described Dr Tenkorang-Twum’s remarks as “highly unacceptable and unbecoming” of a leader representing the nursing profession. While affirming their support for nurses and midwives in addressing their challenges, the group stressed that professional leaders must express dissent with maturity and respect.

“Leadership demands diplomacy and professionalism. Unfortunately, the approach taken by the GRNMA General Secretary fell short of these standards,” the statement read.

The Concerned Nurses and Midwifery Association urged Dr Tenkorang-Twum to reflect on his comments and exercise better judgment in future engagements. The association further called on all leaders in the profession to maintain decorum and protect the public image of nurses and midwives across the country.
