More than 11,000 persons lose jobs in Ghana amid COVID-19

About 11,607 persons lost their jobs in the country as a result of COVID-19.

The figure was obtained in a pilot labour study conducted by the Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations.

The study was conducted on 878 establishments in the country.

Speaking at the 12th National Development Forum on the theme, “The Future Of Work in Post COVID-19 Ghana”, the Minister of Employment and Labour Relations, Ignatius Baffour Awuah said private businesses highly suffered the brunt of the pandemic.

He said though the pandemic has hit the economy in a negative way, it has also brought to the fore the need to adopt innovative ways in doing business.
