Deputy Chief of Staff at the Presidency, Nana Oye Bampoe Addo has suggested a scale up of domestic mobilization of funds to support development in Ghana due to a reduction of charity aid and grants from outside.

Opening the Ghana Philanthropy Conference 2025 in Accra, Madam Bampoe Addo also suggested a bill on Philanthropy to champion activities related to the area.

The Ghana Philanthropy Conference, spearheaded by Star Ghana Foundation, the third in the series, has assembled CSOs across the length and breath of the country to discuss Philanthropy and development and map out strategies to raise domestic support for charity work.

Speaking on the theme, ‘Repositioning Domestic Resources Mobilization as a catalyst for Accelerating Development, the Deputy Chief of Staff said it is increasingly becoming difficult to raise and access finance to undertake development and charity work. Consequently, the only way out is to look inwards.

Welcoming the delegates, Executive Director of Star Ghana Foundation, Alhaji Ibrahim Tanko Amidu said the Ghana Philanthropy Conference has become more than a national convening for consensus on how to go about Philanthropy and development.

Other speakers at the function were the Chief Executive Officer of the millennium Development Authority, Alex Mould and the Executive Director of the African Philanthropy Network, Dr. Stigmata Tenga.
