The Attorney-General and Minister for Justice, Dr. Dominic Ayine Akuritingah, has announced that the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has exceeded its 2025 recovery target by more than GH₵133 million.
Speaking during the Government Accountability Series on Thursday, December 18, 2025, at the Jubilee House, Dr. Ayine said EOCO recovered a total of GH₵337.4 million in 2025, far above its initial target of GH₵200 million. He described the achievement as the highest recovery in the history of the agency.
Dr. Ayine praised EOCO for its remarkable transformation and strong performance, attributing the success to effective leadership and institutional integrity. He noted that the leadership of President John Dramani Mahama has helped strengthen EOCO to carry out its mandate efficiently.
He said EOCO exceeded its 2025 target, which was set at GH₵200 million. Recoveries currently stand at GH₵337.4 million, meaning the agency has surpassed the target by over GH₵133.4 million.
The Attorney-General also disclosed that EOCO’s investigations led to the recovery of assets worth over US$15 million from a fraudulent Malaysian company involved in offshore crypto fraud.
According to him, part of the recovered funds will be used to compensate victims of the scam, while the larger portion will be paid into the public treasury.
He revealed that through complex and groundbreaking investigations, EOCO has recovered US$15.191 million. Some of the money will go to victims, but a greater part will be paid into the public kitty.
He said the achievement reflects EOCO’s growing capacity to fight economic and organised crime in Ghana.
