It has been the bone of contention over cost and size in political discourse for months, but on Wednesday, May 12, a ceremony has taken place to lay the final concrete works at the Pokuase interchange.

Roads and Highways Minister, Mr Kwasi Amoako-Attah performed the ceremony.

The 48 Engineers Regiment were at the project site marking the success chalked up so far. Also at the site were the Chinese contractor, engineers, and labourers working hard to meet their target.

However, Mr. Kwasi Amoako-Attah cautioned motorists to be extra vigilant with road signs and directions when completed.

The four tier Pokuase interchange, first in West Africa and second in the whole of Africa after a similar one in Durban, South Africa, will ease travel time of road users from Accra to Amasaman, Kwabenya-Sowutuom and surrounding areas when completed.

The interchange will have ten lanes.

Mr. Amoako-Attah says the president started fixing the country from 2017.

Started in July 2018, the interchange which is over ninety per cent complete will be ready for formal opening for use, in July, and is one of the seven projects being undertaken concurrently in Ghana since 2017.
