A historic visit was paid by the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II to the Ghana Police Service Headquarters as part of the IGP’s efforts to strengthen relationships with key stakeholders, including traditional leaders, to ensure effective policing and security in Ghana.
During the courtesy call today, January 6, 2026, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II joked about wanting to join the police force. He humorously told Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Christian Tetteh Yohunu to get him a uniform so he could wear one when he visits another time.
“Watching the ladies parade, I thought I should have worn my police uniform to be here. I will plead with the IGP to get me a police uniform so that when I come back, I will be a policeman”, he said.
The Asantehene also expressed his gratitude for the warm reception, stating, “I am deeply humbled by the extraordinary courtesies extended to us this morning.”
In response, IGP Christian Yohunu lauded Otumfuo Osei Tutu II for his significant contributions to peacebuilding and conflict resolution in Ghana, describing him as the “King Solomon of our time”.
The IGP also highlighted the monarch’s impact on national security and commended his efforts in maintaining peace and stability in the country.
