Gold smuggling: GoldBod suspends NK Benark Enterprise license, shuts down shops nationwide

The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) has suspended the license of NK Benark Enterprise, a licensed gold buyer, and ordered the closure of all its trading shops across the country.‎

‎The decision, announced on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, follows the company’s alleged involvement in multiple gold-related offenses.

According to GoldBod, the owner of the firm, Bernard Nkrumah, has been arrested and is currently facing prosecution before the High Court.‎

‎In a statement issued on Wednesday September 17, 2025, GoldBod has cautioned miners, traders, and the public to immediately stop engaging in any form of gold transactions with NK Benark Enterprise.‎

‎The Goldbod has stressed its commitment to enforcing laws in the gold trade sector, adding that its actions are guided by principles of accountability and transparency.
