Government to launch 24-Hour Economy on July 2; Team submits full plan to Speaker

The president’s advisor on the 24-Hour Economy, Mr. Augustus Goosie Obuodum Tanoh has announced that government will officially on Wednesday July 2, 2025 launch the 24-Hour Economy programme.

According to Mr. Tanoh, the 24-Hour Economy is designed to boost production, especially in the agriculture sector, and improve the Ghana’s value chain to increase productivity.

The programme will focus on three main areas: transforming production, improving supply chain and market systems, and investing in human development.

Mr. Tanoh shared these details when the 24-Hour Economy team at the Presidency paid a courtesy call on the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin. The team submitted the full plan for the 24-hour economy and the Accelerated Export Development Programme to the Speaker.

He explained that to make the plan effective, the government has introduced specific sub-programmes under each focus area. These include:

Grow 24 – focuses on agriculture

Make 24 – supports manufacturing

Connect 24 – improves supply chains

Aspire 24 – promotes mindset change and adds digital training to the TVET curriculum to help create more jobs

In addition, there will be a “Show Ghana” initiative to promote Ghana’s rich culture to the global diaspora and attract more tourists to the country.

The Speaker of Parliament, welcomed the plan and highlighted its potential to create more jobs. He urged the 24-hour economy office to work closely with Parliament to pass a bill that would support the programme’s long-term success, even if a new government takes office.
