The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) says it will not return to its burnt Nkrumah Circle office anytime soon because it has secured two new offices to accommodate the Large and Medium Tax operations.
The authority is however unable to disclose the value of the damage caused by the fire.
Addressing journalists in Accra, the Commissioner General, Ammishaddai Owusu-Amoah challenged the assertion that there were no fire extinguishers and smoke detectors on the charred floor.
He said the GRA has been compliant with all safety measures.
Mr. Owusu-Amoah said it will be premature to quantify the value of equipment lost to the inferno.
Four persons got injured during December 1 raging fire that ripped through offices of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) Head Office Annex at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle area.
The injured persons are all personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service. An official of the Ghana Red Cross said three of the injuries are minor but one person is severely injured and has been transferred to the hospital.
The fire started at the top floor offices the GRA Head Office Annex but spread fast to other adjoining offices.
