The Acting Chief Justice, Paul Baffoe-Bonnie, together with the entire Judiciary and Judicial Service of Ghana, has expressed deep sorrow over the deaths of eight Ghanaians, including two Ministers of State and three soldiers, who died in a helicopter crash on Wednesday, 6 August 2025.

In a press statement released on Thursday, the Judiciary described the victims as patriots who gave their lives in service to the nation. The crash occurred in the Ashanti Region while the officials were on their way to perform a national assignment in Obuasi.

“This heart-breaking tragedy has left our hearts heavy and our nation in mourning,” the statement said. “The victims were not only public servants but also patriots whose lives were dedicated to the service of our country.”

The Acting Chief Justice offered condolences to President John Dramani Mahama, the bereaved families, and the entire nation, describing the incident as “a grievous blow” to Ghana.

“It is our prayer that the Almighty God grants the souls of the departed eternal rest and also grants strength, comfort, and healing to all who are affected by this calamity,” the statement added.

Calling for national unity in the face of this tragedy, the Judiciary encouraged Ghanaians to find inspiration in the lives of the departed.

“May their legacies of courage, selflessness, and devotion to duty continue to inspire us all,” the statement concluded.
