The Ministry of National Security says it has initiated investigation into allegations of manhandling two journalists from Citi FM—Caleb Kudah and Zoe Abu-Baidoo.
A statement signed by the Chief Director, Lt. Colonel Ababio Serebour, assured the public that appropriate actions shall be taken if the allegations are found to be true.
Mr Kudah had claimed he was slapped repeatedly by the national security operatives who arrested him on Tuesday, 11 May 2021 at the premises of the Ministry for secretly recording some alleged abandoned cars within the MASLOC yard.
But the National Security Ministry says the protection of the rights and freedom of citizens remains a cornerstone of safeguarding the peace and stability of the state and will at all times uphold the ethics and professional standards guiding operational duties.
The statement said this include but not limited to interrogation processes for persons who are required to assist in investigation. The statement claimed Caleb was detected to be filming within the precincts of National Security installation contrary to the “No photography’’ rules.
Upon interrogation, it was revealed that Mr. Kudah had gained access to the premises under false pretense.
It was also revealed that he forwarded the footages to his colleague Zoe Abu-Baidoo and upon declining an invitation for interrogation, she was picked up by operatives of National Security. The statement concluded that both journalists were released on the same day after the interrogation.
