Odeefo Afankwa elected Council of State member for Central Region

The Omanhene of Breman Essiam Traditional Area, Odeefuo Afankwa has been elected to represent the people of Central Region on the Council of State. The 50-year-old traditional leader polled 31 out of the 44 votes cast.

The second contender Kweku Acquah had 13 votes. In all, seven people filed to contest the election.

Before the election two contestants, Nana Kweku Awuku and Patrick Kwame Nkyi stepped down leaving five candidates.

In his speech, Odeefuo Afankwa pledged to represent the interest of the people of the region and liaise with the regional house of Chiefs to deal with chieftaincy issues in the region and spearhead development.
