A source close to Former Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, has confirmed that he is committed to participating in an electronic interview with the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) due to his current health condition.

Mr. Ofori-Atta was expected to appear in person before the OSP today, June 2, 2025 or risk being declared wanted again. However, his legal team says his health has worsened unexpectedly, making it impossible for him to travel back to Ghana at this time.

His lawyer, Frank Davies, explained that the OSP has been officially informed about Mr. Ofori-Atta’s condition and has been given medical documents to support it. The information has also been shared with the Human Rights Court.

Mr. Ofori-Atta has sued the OSP at the Human Rights Court, arguing that the earlier move to declare him wanted was unlawful. The court will give its ruling on the case on June 18, 2025.

The OSP acknowledged the legal proceedings in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on May 28, 2025 and has confirmed that the case has been adjourned to June 18, 2025 for a decision. Mr. Ofori-Atta is asking the court to stop the OSP from making further public declarations about him and to delete earlier posts that named him.

According to Joy News sources, the former minister’s legal team has provided the court with full medical details, including plans for surgery. They also say Mr. Ofori-Atta is ready to be interviewed electronically under Ghana’s Electronic Transactions Act. This will allow the OSP to take his cautioned statement while he continues receiving treatment.
