A devastating fire swept through several makeshift wooden structures and metal containers near the Madina Redco Flats this afternoon.
The Ghana National Fire Service received the emergency call at 12:36 hours, and the first fire appliance from Madina Fire Station arrived promptly at 12:40 hours. Four (4) additional fire engines from Legon, Abelempke, and Headquarters were swiftly dispatched to augment firefighting efforts.
Thanks to the coordinated and timely response, the blaze was successfully brought under control at 13:56 hours, despite considerable destruction to utility poles, traders’ wares, and structures used for both commercial and residential purposes.
Overhauling is underway to deal with all pockets of fire. No casualties have been recorded at this time.
