The Crime Check Foundation, an NGO and other stakeholders will today (July 18), meet to discuss the need to decriminalize drugs such as cannabis.

This will allow the country to explore the health, human rights, economic and environmental benefits of these drugs.

The forum comes at a time Ghana is reviewing its drug law with the aim of placing the health and well being of the people at the centre of its drug policies.

Speaking in an interview with GBC’s Radio Ghana, the African Consultant of the International Drug Policy Consortium, Maria-Goretti Ane-Loglo, said the programme is one form of appealing to government through the Parliamentary Committee to be liberal in reviewing the Narcotics Commission Bill.
